The HCA offers financial education services to help build the financial capacity of our Hopi Sinom. Our goal is to “enhance the quality of life for our Hopi Sinom to become informed consumers.”
Financial Education
What is financial education? Financial education is defined as the ability to understand how money works, more specifically it refers to the set of skills and knowledge that allows an individual to make informed and effective decisions with all their financial resources.
The HCA offers:
- Financial education classes both online and in person for the public or your organization by request.
- One-on-one financial education by appointment.
Financial education classes are free. Our classes cover a variety of financial basics such as:
- How to set financial goals
- Creating a budget
- What credit is and how to improve or obtain it
- Identity Theft
- Being a smart consumer
The Hopi Credit Association also partners with the U of A Cooperative Extension to provide Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University course. This course is offered at least once a year and requires a fee.

Youth Financial Literacy Camp
The HCA Sponsors a Youth Financial Literacy Camp for youth 14-18 years of age during the summer. The camp is a 3-day camp that covers financial fundamentals such as building a healthy economy, budgeting skills, checking and savings accounts, and understanding credit. Students who complete the camp receive a $50.00 incentive to help build their savings account.
Small Business Education
The HCA and Hopi Relief have partnered on a project to support small business on Hopi. Through this partnership, HCA was able to host a small business training week. Workshops hosted during the week included topics such as:
- Small Business on Hopi, Taking the Leap
- Working for a Hopi LLC/Artists Supporting Artists
- Marketing Your Business
- Financial Services & Business Bookkeeping
HCA and Hopi Relief plan to continue the small business training week every June. Keep an eye out for advertisements or contact us to be placed on our small business email list. Additional small business workshops will be offered throughout the year. Check our events page for scheduled workshops.
